The Power Of Sleep
Sleep is perhaps one of the most underrated aspects of keeping healthy and feeling great. In our fast paced society people are sleeping less and less. People are losing touch of there body’s natural cycles and do not understand that a solid sleeping habit will increase vitality. Our ancestors from 50 thousand years ago slept on average 8-10 hours, going to bed well before midnight and waking at the crack of dawn to start off hunting. More recently in 1910 people slept on average 9 hours per night. Alarmingly in 2005 the average amount of sleep was a mere 7 hours, which can be attributed to the pace of life and items such as television and computers keeping us up later then ever before.

I Have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome? What Is It?
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)-ever hear of it? It’s more common than one might think. I hadn’t until I was diagnosed with it. And the whole thing started with breaking my foot!
CRPS, the cause is unknown, but may be related to a problem involving the sympathetic nervous system. This system is located along the spinal cord, controls certain bodily functions-most notably the opening and closing of the blood vessels and sweat glands.
It’s known as several other names: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSDS), causalgia, Sudeck’s atrophy and shoulder-hand syndrome. Although it also hits the feet, as it has done with me.
What Is Lymphoma?
Lymphoma is a broad term that encompasses a variety of cancers of the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s immune system. This is the system that helps filter out bacteria and is vital in fighting disease.
In lymphoma, the lymphocytes or white blood cells in the lymph system multiply wildly from a single cell. The various types of lymphomas are based on the type of cell that multiplies and how the cancer presents itself.
The two main groups of lymphoma are Hodgkin’s lymphoma or disease and the Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. There are subtypes or classifications within each category. Hodgkin’s lymphoma has five subtypes while the non-Hodgkin’s category has about 35 recognized types of cancer.
Colon Surgery
Colon Surgery: The goal of colon surgery is to eliminate the colon cancer by removing a section of the colon that is infected. This procedure is also referred to as a colon resection.
Preparing for colon surgery
The night before a colon resection is a busy and important time. The colon must be cleansed with a powerful laxative and antibiotics to flush out any food remnants to reduce the risk of infection during and after the surgery. In addition, only clear liquids should be consumed the night before and you should not consume anything after midnight; this keeps the colon free of stool.
