Finding Your Way Through The Cancer Information Maize

February 9, 2008 | Filed Under Health and Fitness

There is no typical way to feel when you are told that you have cancer. Some people experience several emotions at once, ranging from fear, sadness and even anger all the way to motivation and determination. There is one feeling that seems consistent for most and that is the loss of control in regards to their life. What to do next? Where to start looking for answers? Who can I talk to? There is a lot of really good hope out there as well as alot of not so good hype.

Not all cancers behave alike. The treatment for breast, cervical or prostate cancer probably will not be effective for melanoma, colon or skin cancer. Each type will act differently and the cells will grow and divide at different rates and will respond, or not respond, to different treatments. The more you know about cancer and once you understand how it really works, the sooner you will stop fearing it and get on with the task ahead of you. One of the first stops would be to find out as much as you can about your particular cancer. It’s not all that difficult if you know where to go. Try www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/alphalist. It list just about all cancers from A to Z including treatments, prevention, research, screening, testing statistics, clinical tests and literature for you to read at home and absorb all this information.

Sometimes, we just accept things that are told to us without thinking beyond the hype that is thrown at us from all the fads, TV commercials, and the tons of authorities out there, all claiming to have the right answers for us. This includes all the people you know that have tried this or that and it worked for them. Each body is unique and responds differently to chemicals, medicines and treatments. Uncover the whole train load of objective information for you by researching and locating the best where-with-all to help you.

There is assistance out there waiting to help you. There are clinical trial treatments you may qualify for, the therapy consultants who research past results of both alternative and conventional treatments worldwide or the latest breakthroughs of treatment in the industry, financial aide, free wigs and cosmetics, advocates, free medicine, agencies who will check on some treatments for you, most up to date treatments and just about anything in between.
