Students - Back Packs & Back Problems
There are many different styles of back packs available. Which one is correct for your child’s school needs and what can you as a parent do to help prevent back problems?
As a Chiropractor it would give me great pleasure to see every back pack custom fitted for each child’s frame the way high quality hiking and military packs are sized.
Unfortunately the decision making process on the types of allowable back packs has already been made by the school system. For security reasons all back packs must be of the see through type. This leaves two basic materials to be utilized: see through mesh or clear vinyl plastic. There are some common sense principles you can follow to make sure that your child does not experience back problems from these packs.
The Simple Definition Of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Constant stretching and pulling of the muscles and nerves of your wrists and your hands may lead to a condition known as carpal tunnel syndrome. This condition is caused most often by motions which are repeated excessively such as typing motions. The pain that results is caused when the median nerve running from your forearm to your hand, gets squeezed or pressed at your wrist position. The nerve at this location is responsible for the sensations on the palm near your thumb and fingers. This is also the nerve responsible for impulses to certain muscles of the hand that allow the movement of certain parts of the fingers and thumbs.
The Definition Of Ergonomics?
Constant repetition of certain physical movements can lead to the stress of the musculoskeletal system. These repetitive movements include movements like typing which can stress the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, the neck as well as the back. This stress may occur to such an extent that you may experience some minor or major injuries.
Ergonomics, Office Chairs And The Real Definition Of Workplace Ergonomic Posture
The dictionary definition of ergonomics or human factors is the application of scientific information concerning humans to the design of objects, systems and environment for human use. When a manufacturer uses this process they take into account many factors which can affect the consumer. They use theory, data and principles in order to design a chair that limits all unnatural motions which will cause fatigue and pain. What kind of things do ergonomically designed task chairs take into account?
Ergonomics - Are You Sitting Comfortably?
Ergonomics is, basically, the science of comfort. It is the study of how your equipment affects you when you are at work, both in terms of maximising your efficiency and reducing any health risks that might be present.
Where you’ve probably heard the term, though, is used in relation to computer equipment: mice, mouse mats, keyboards, monitors, and the like. The traditional design of a lot of computer equipment is very unergonomic, meaning that if it is used for extended periods of time (as you do when you are using it at your job), you can get all sorts of injuries, the most famous being RSI (repetitive strain injury).
