Sink Or Swim
This article is devoted to water and its importance to our health. What we can learn about water is important to our emotional and spiritual health as well as what we’ve already learned about it in relation to our physical health. Water is a universal archetype or symbol for the energy of emotion. We find examples of this symbology throughout global cultures and spiritual systems. In earth-based spiritual systems, the elements of nature reflect the elements of man. Air represents the mind, earth represents the physical or material aspect, fire represents action and expression, and water represents emotion. In Tarot decks, the suit of cups (water container) represent emotion. The symbol of water itself in the cards also represents emotion. In the Native American spiritual system, water represents emotional energy as observed in the energetic representations of water-based animals like the beaver. There are valuable insights that we can gain into our emotional nature through exploring the nature of water as an analogy for the nature of emotional energy. Exploring the way Beaver interacts with his watery environment draws the analogy perfectly.
Nurse Study Suggests New Syringes Can Prevent Injectable Medication Errors
A new national study of 1,039 nurses conducted by The American Nurses Association (ANA) highlighted the possible reasons behind most of the injectable medication errors in our hospitals (as covered in another article).
One “solution” adopted by some nurses to prevent such errors is to pre-label the syringes well in advance.
But that certainly violates the guidelines specified by the Joint Commission’s 2007 National Patient Safety Goals document which demand that the syringe labels be prepared only at the time when the medication is prepared.
What Exactly Is A Swedish Massage?
What exactly is a Swedish Massage? I get this inquiry a lot from folks who have never had a massage before. First of all, Swedish work does not really involve deep, specific work, as in Triggerpoint or Deep tissue work. It consists mainly of long, gliding strokes, but it can be integrated to a certain extent with some deep tissue work, depending on the clients’ needs and timeframe allotment of the session.
Some of the techniques go a bit deeper into the musculature, but again, certainly not as deep as Triggerpoint or deep tissue. It is wonderful for general relaxation, however, as the work has a type of flow and rythym. It is wonderful for stress, and for helping the immune system.

Holistic Medicine Secrets - Discover Why Heartburn Drugs Can Make Stomach Acid Worse
Ironically, many people take drugs such as Prevacid and Prilosec for reducing heartburn, but in reality, stomach acid declines as we age. People think they have heartburn, because their stomach acid backs up in the esophagus due to poor digestion caused by a lack of stomach acid.
Put another way, stomach acid is required for absorption. A lack of stomach acid can cause poor digestion which can cause the acid to move up the esophagus. This displacement of stomach acid causes people to think they have too. But in reality, we don’t have enough!

The Power Of Sleep
Sleep is perhaps one of the most underrated aspects of keeping healthy and feeling great. In our fast paced society people are sleeping less and less. People are losing touch of there body’s natural cycles and do not understand that a solid sleeping habit will increase vitality. Our ancestors from 50 thousand years ago slept on average 8-10 hours, going to bed well before midnight and waking at the crack of dawn to start off hunting. More recently in 1910 people slept on average 9 hours per night. Alarmingly in 2005 the average amount of sleep was a mere 7 hours, which can be attributed to the pace of life and items such as television and computers keeping us up later then ever before.
